13/12/00    Swilland Moon and Mushroom

The Swilland Moon and MushroomAs NaTCH drove though Earl Soham on the way to Swilland they saw John B driving in the opposite direction and Hugh strolling to the post office.  Not a good start!  In the event attendees were Malcolm, first timer Hugh, Spadge in a Ginetta looking remarkably like a MR2 (the Ginetta not Spadge), and NaTCH.  The Woodford Wherry was excellent, Malcolm drank a coriander flavoured beer called Umble and the food was very pleasant.  Conversation included "Why did the Americans go into Kuwait?".  Because Sadam Hussein had Malcolm's piano apparently and what's more he still hasn't returned it.  Apologies for absence received from Andy and John FH (pressure of business), and John B (unwell child).

The Low House pub sign08/11/00    Laxfield Low House (King's Head)

Despite a miserable day attendees were Andy, Spadge in a blue Ginetta, NaTCH and Malcolm.  Malcolm combined his lunch with making a delivery of Low House Bitter which was sampled and approved.  The food could have been hotter but the conversation flowed heatedly.  "Does God exist?" was even briefly touched upon.  Apologies for absence received from Hugh.

11/10/00    Cretingham Bell

The Cretingham Bell proved to be lunch club friendly and a lively discussion (for that read lots of shouting) was enjoyed by the attendees NaTCH, John B, Malcolm and Andy.  Adnams' new beer Fisherman (or some such name - anyway the pump badge had a picture of someone in a souwester) was sampled, and it was established that the Lunch Club does not have rules just "prior art and practice".

13/09/00    Framlingham Station

What a success!  Despite petrol problems attendees were John B, Malcolm, NaTCH, Spadge, and Andy - the latter two en velo!  Apologies for absence from John FH who couldn't find any diesel for his Landrover.  John B and Malcolm whizzed off promptly to be on tv but the rest of made us a useful contribution to the sum of human happiness by putting the world to rights.

09/08/00    Ufford White Lion

Despite NaTCH's crap instructions on how to find the White Lion John FH and Spadge, in a silver GT Ginetta thingy, turned up.  OK food,  excellent Charles Wells Bombardier and reportedly good Adnams.  NaTCH was served a crap pint of Greene King IPA but it was changed without argument.  Yes, much more pleasant than remembered and worth visiting again.

12/07/00    Earl Soham Vic

Malcolm's mild was particularly on song.

14/06/00    Easton White Horse

Attendees just Andy and NaTCH.  Andy was particularly impressed by his unusual stir fry.  A bit expensive.

10/05/00    Marlesford Bell

Attendees NaTCH, Andy and John B (who arrive 20 minutes late saying "I was in Beccles 50 minutes ago") were rather swamped by a coach load of senior citizens who had arrived a few minutes earlier.  John's prawn salad was spectacularly generous.

12/04/00    Glemham Crown

The first Lunch Club.  Attendees Andy, John B and NaTCH.  The pub was pleasant enough if a bit anodyne.  The other customers seemed primarily retired folks who eat early and left early.  Some conversation was a little self consciously about 'business' and John's pursuit of a boiler for the new brewery.
